Thanks to @latinxpoplabut team for the invitation and for providing such a welcoming space for creativity and inspiration.
“The Mother Land” is a poem inspired by the story of Yasmin and Celest, two young artists women of Arab and Jewish descent who experience the complexities of maintaining their friendship with the Israel-Palestine conflict, especially after the events of October 7, 2023. Faced with the anger, disappointment, and deep-seated animosities in their communities, they make the brave decision to rise above these divides and establish an initiative, @harmoniesofhumanity promoting peace and understanding through art. Their friendship serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of human connection, showing that even in the hardest conflicts, there is room for peace, coexistence, and creativity.
